The Perfect Hire with Kathy Knowles

Today I’m excited to interview Kathy Knowles. Kathy is a speaker, trainer and consultant who teaches people about a seven-step system for creating more purpose, profit, and possibilities. She works with business owners to gain more dedicated and loyal employees and customers, and ultimately, her clients are able to make the leap onto a much bigger playing field. I hope you enjoy our interview as much as I did.

Key Takeaways:

[1:28] Kathy has a background in Human Resources, but eventually decided to dedicate her time to her passion, which is helping business owners get the right people on their team.

[2:51] Through firsthand experience, Kathy has developed a formula to hire right the first time.

[3:45] Seek out the best employees, instead of waiting for them to come to you.

[4:49] You can always work on someone’s skillset if they have the right attitude.

[5:58] Right off the bat, you should weed out applicants who don’t pay attention to detail.

[8:14] Do a “trial run” in the interview.

[10:03] Sometimes employees are doomed to fail by their superiors and a lack of leadership.

[12:33] What can business owners do to create a good work environment for Millennials?

[14:44] Many business owners have the wrong idea about how to get customers.

[16:22] What does Kathy’s seven-step process for entrepreneurs entail?

[18:48] Kathy typically works with businesses with three to fifty employees, but she even works with solo entrepreneurs.

[19:46] Many people think they need to hire an assistant before they actually do.

[23:53] Business owners must set standards of accountability for their teams.

[25:37] Connect with Kathy on her website, and please enjoy the free gift of her ebook, Find and Fill:The Ultimate Playbook for Creating Your Dream Team.

Started listening to Josh's podcast after the wife and I decided to buy a franchise and I quickly went through about 200 episodes on 1.5x & 2x, before signing on to purchase a franchise. Josh's info was an invaluable part of our decision to buy, and after listening to so many episodes, I felt like I knew and trusted him on a personal level, so it was a no-brainer to enlist his services when it came time to review the franchise agreement. Josh was super easy to talk to and very empathetic to our needs, and being first time business owners, we needed all the empathy we could get. Josh helped us negotiate a great deal with the franchisor and we were very happy with his services. Great podcast, great guy, great service to anyone involved in the franchise world!
