The Voice is a music reality show where very talented musicians compete head-to-head for the chance of winning a recording contract. Think American Idol with much better talent (and much better judges). On last night’s show just before going on stage, one of the contestants was having a conversation with herself in which she said, among other things, “all I need is 20 seconds of insane courage….” This comment really resonated with me. I began to think what if we all demonstrated “20 seconds of insane courage” in our own lives. In our own businesses. How much more could we accomplish by doing so? I thnk a great deal.
Too often we play it safe. We get comfortable. I think it’s time to get uncomfortable. Below are 5 ways you can get “uncomfortable” and show great courage with your small business.
- Break routine
- Innovate daringly
- Think creatively
- Find your Blue Ocean strategy (if you don’t know what a “Blue Ocean” strategy is, read the book “Blue Ocean Strategy” by W. Chan Kim & Renee Mauborgne)
- Allow your business’s authentic character to shine through in all that you do
